Homemade Pizza Dough

Homemade Pizza Dough

Everyone loves pizza!  Kids swarm to it like bees to a hive.  Even parents enjoy the indulgence of a pizza slice or two.  If you are like me, you will find this goes perfectly with a night of movies curled up on the couch, while playing board games with the kids, or while hanging out around a table with friends and neighbors.  Be sure to write this recipe down because it is a keeper!

      Ingredients
  • 1 pkg (2 1/4 tsp) yeast
  • 1 Tblsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup non-fat dry milk (normally found on the sugar and spice aisle...where us girls and everything nice hang out ;) )
  • 1 1/3 cup warm water
  • 2 Tblsp oil
  • 4 cups flour
  • butter flavor non-stick spray or butter flavor shortening but any spray or shortening will do
  • garlic salt (*optional)
  1. Combine yeast, sugar, salt, and dry milk in a med-large bowl.
  2. Add water and stir.  Allow to sit 2 minutes until it is foamy on top.
  3. Add oil and stir.
  4. Add flour.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead about 8-10 times. (*optional-divide to make two smaller or thinner pizzas)
  6. Grease pizza stone with spray or shortening.
  7. Place dough on pizza stone.
  8. Begin spreading dough out to edges of stone making sure not to flatten the very edges/leave a 1 inch edge around entire pizza.
  9. Spray or grease edges of pizza dough and sprinkle with garlic salt.
  10. Spread sauce and top with your favorite cheese and toppings.
  11. Bake at 475 until the cheese is bubbling and crust is light brown.
  12. Enjoy!
