No Bake Granola Bars

No Bake Granola Bars
Recently, I sent off my recipe for No Bake Granola Bars, and it was the chosen winner on a blog.  (I just love Andrea's blog, so be sure to check it out.)  So, are you ready for some yummy, delicious, can't get enough of them, granola bars?  Great!  I better warn you...they can become addicting.

      Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup of honey or corn syrup (I like to use 1/4 of each)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 2 cups of oats
  • 2 cups Rice Krispy cereal
  • 1/4 cup ground flax seed
  • 1-2 Tblsp wheat germ (optional--honestly, I never add it)
  • 1 cup of your choice of seeds, nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips but it needs to add up to 1 cup.
  1. In a saucepan, mix honey or corn syrup and brown sugar.  Cook over medium-high heat until sugar is completely dissolved, stirring constantly.
  2. Remove from heat and quickly stir in peanut butter so it blends in smoothly.
  3. Stir in the oats, cereal, flax seed, wheat germ, nuts, seeds, and fruit.  Wait a few minutes on the chocolate chips or they will melt.
  4. Gently toss in the chocolate chips with your hands...yes, this gets messy.
  5. In a greased 13x9 dish, press the granola mixture out to edges.
  6. Pop in the refrigerator to let cool and firm up.
  7. Take them out, cut into bars, and serve.
  8. Enjoy!

Here is the recipe link on her blog.  I forgot to tell her to wait a bit before mixing in the chocolate chips.  Oopsies.

  2. Hi Mona. Thank you for your kind words. I went ahead and submitted the email address you provided to receive alerts (snippets) when new posts have been put on the blog. You can have your daughter enter her email or click on my "follow" button. Both of these can be found on the right side of the blog towards the top. If either of you have a google account, you should also be able to click the follow bar at the very top of the page, however, this will not be visible to you if you do not have a google account. I hope that was helpful.
Again, thanks for visiting my site and for your kind words. :)
